Top 5 Things You Need to Know for 2016 Tournaments

The 2016 Season is upon us and change is in the air!   Check out the Top 5 Things You Need to Know to be ready for the 2016 Season and take full advantage of everything DSGA has to offer:

Delaware Open Qualifier Eliminated

All eligible professionals and amateurs (handicap of 8.5 or lower) are welcome to register for the 51st Delaware Open on August 1-2 at Deerfield Golf Club.  Players will complete 18 holes on day 1, and then the field will be cut prior to the final day, where 36 holes will be completed.

Play Golf Delaware Tour – New Divisions!

  1. Non-Compete Division:  For a lower entry fee, players may come out on tournament day to play golf without being eligible for prizes.  These players will not be subject to any rules officiating and scores will not be collected.  This Division is recommended for players with high handicaps or who are new to organized competition.
  2. Women’s Division: Any woman with an active handicap is welcome to sign up to compete in the PGD Tour.  Gross & Net prizes will be awarded, based on field sizes.  Women are also welcome to sign up for the Non-Compete Division.

Team Challenge & End of Year Dinner

This 4-person team event will feature a Best 2 of 4 Format and will include a Men’s Division, Women’s Division and Pro-Am Division.   Following the tournament, 2016 player and club awards will be presented at the End of Year Dinner. More details will be released later this Spring, but mark your calendar now – Thursday, October 27!

Super Senior Championship

There will now be a separate event for players 65 years of age or older to compete for the Super Senior title.  All players will compete from the same set of tees at both the Senior and Super Senior Championships, with handicapped flights created based on field size.  The Super Senior will be held at Maple Dale CC on August 9-10, and the Senior will be at The Rookery North the following week on August 15-16.
